The defense of free speech historically was that it allowed the public to root out bad ministers, even if it allowed for the infallibility (and thus the immunity from criticism) of the monarch. That we are now required to have information curated for us shows that the real goal is to allow the massive corruption of today's ministers to remain unseen.
